It’s safe to say that sometimes the hardest part of a health and fitness journey is navigating our self-talk and keeping ourselves accountable and going! Here are a few important mindset things that may help you if you’re struggling right now :)
1. Don’t compare your chapter 1 to other people’s chapter 20
It’s very easy to compare ourselves to others, especially on social media. Whether that be fitness influencers, client transformations, or your For Your page on TikTok, there is always going to be someone out there to compare yourself to. What is important to remember is that people are on all different places in their journeys and someone you admire may be YEARS into working on themselves. Progress takes time! Know that you may not be exactly where you want to be right now, but you will one day. You just have to keep showing up and working hard!
2 Everyone goes through periods of self-doubt
It wouldn’t be a true challenge if there weren’t moments when we think we can’t do something. We’re human. Life is hard sometimes and showing up for yourself each day can get exhausting. Progress, whether that be physical or strength, may not come as quickly as you imagined and may leave you thinking “Am I doing the right thing?”. The most successful people, in any field - not just fitness, are the ones who push through those feelings of self-doubt and show up anyways. You may not always be 100% confident in yourself and what you are doing, but if you are working on yourself each day, you are most definitely heading in the right direction. Keep it up :)
3 Just because you’ve failed in the past doesn’t mean you can’t do it now
Let’s reflect on your history of diet and exercise. Are you that person who has tried every diet trend? Or maybe you’ve tried your favorite influencer’s workout guide without success. Are you that person that feels like nothing actually works for you even though it works for other people? Or maybe you actually have a solid program in front of you but you just can’t hold yourself accountable to stick with it. Just because this may reflect your history doesn’t mean that you can’t do it this time. Every single person has the potential to have a successful health and fitness journey even if everything else in the past has crashed and burned! It may be as simple as finding something that works for you and your specific goals, and that works well with your schedule and your eating habits. You ultimately hold the key to your success in your journey - we just have to find what lock is best for you!
