Being Selfish in my Health Journey

If my fitness journey has taught me anything, it's that being selfish is ok!

I used to feel extremely insecure of my fitness journey. It felt like I was being an inconvenience to others...when in reality it was my lack of boundaries and confidence in my habits that were the bigger inconvenience to my own self.

I wouldn't hit my workouts.

I wouldn't hit my macros.

I wouldn't succeed at my goals.

Because I was too busy trying to please everyone else but myself.

At the end of the day, you are the only one who has to live in your mind and body. And that alone, made me push for a change in how I prioritized certain things in my life.

I started saying no to events in order to get in workouts.

I started asking for restaurant menus ahead of time to hit my macros better.

I started setting a drink limit on nights out to prioritize how I wanted to feel in the morning.

I started bringing snacks to events when I wanted to fuel my body better.

I started suggesting a different activity with friends when the initial plan didn't align with my life.

And for some, these things seemed strange and "dumb."

But for me, these things started bridging the gap between failing and succeeding at balance.

I started choosing me. And for that, I was selfish in the best way possible!

If I was going to be selfish, at least I was doing it for the longevity of health and habits.

If you needed a sign to be selfish, this is it.

It's ok to choose YOU.

It's ok to say NO.

It's ok to want to make a CHANGE.

Be patient with yourself throughout this process and trust that you will learn more about yourself through this process!
