"How do you stay so motivated?"

If I had a penny for every time someone asked me how I stay so motivated to workout (or track macros), I'd be rich. This is one of the most common questions (and perceived barriers) I see in talking with others who are on their own fitness journeys.

"How do you stay so motivated?"

You want the truth? Are you sure?

The answer is -- I DO NOT. I do not stay motivated to workout daily. I do not stay motivated to track my macros. I do not stay motivated to drink my water. I do not stay motivated to get my steps in.

I'm sure you're not motivated to go to work every single day, right? But you do it!! Because what would happen if one day you just stopped showing up to work? Why do you go to work if you just don't feel like it?

The answer is -- DISCIPLINE. You are disciplined enough to push through, get dressed, and go to work.

Soooo -- I like to use this same approach when it comes to pushing through barriers in my fitness, nutrition, and wellness journey. Working out, tracking macros, getting in your steps, and drinking water is not ALWAYS your first choice. I'm sure some days you would rather be on the couch or out drinking with friends. But when it comes down to it, if you show up daily, and stay consistent it is because you ARE disciplined enough to do so. You are disciplined enough to show up for yourself and break your own barriers.

Motivation ebbs and flows. Discipline is what keeps us consistent.
